June 2008 Graduates: See the first section of Summer 2008 Computing News for information about all your Smith computer accounts, along with useful tips for life after GroupWise.

ITS blogs: Visit the MacUser and WinBlog blogs for news and alerts tailored for all Mac and Windows users at Smith.  Students, the TechNotes blog is just for you. You can create an RSS feed or sign up for email alerts for any or all of these blogs.

Smith web servers accept only *Secure* FTP connections. If you've been using a non-secure FTP (file-transfer protocol) program to transfer files to a web server, click here for instructions on switching to Secure FTP.

Office 2007 users: If you are sending a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file to someone who does not have Office 2007, be sure to save your file in a format your recipient can open. Click here for instructions.

Non-Office 2007
users: If you cannot open a Word, Excel, or PowerPoint file sent by an Office 2007 user, click below for instructions on installing a program that can convert the file to a format your computer can read.

Free software!  Don't forget that McAfee, GroupWise, and many other applications and plug-ins are available to the Smith community at no cost on the software download site: http://www.smith.edu/smithsoftware

Students:  Be sure to save a copy of all your important files on your network (H:) drive.  That way you'll always have a backup if anything happens to your computer or storage media. Click here to learn how to transfer files to and from your network drive.
