Whenever you're in transition, it's helpful to follow the sequence to the right, which isn't a closed circle, but rather a spiral - each time you make a new decision you're starting from further up your life spiral. Here are the basic steps:
1. Identify your needs, interests, skills, values, and more, today;
2. Explore options that seem to fit your findings in #1;
3. Choose and apply for the options that appealed to you most, now, in #2.
People of all ages find this process useful, and go through it in one form or another each time they make new decisions of all kinds, not just about work.

MYERS-BRIGGS TYPE INDICATOR (MBTI)
The widely used MBTI identifies your personality type on four ranges of human behavior: introvert/extrovert; sensor/intuition; thinker/feeler; perceiver/judge. CDO counselors are trained to interpret the MBTI. You’re welcome to order the questionnaire, then make an in-person or phone appointment, and provide your numbers and letters to your counselor by e-mail, phone or fax ahead of time. There's a fee for the one hour interpretation session.
Many career issues and decisions are affected by a person’s emotional, rather than intellectual, intelligence (EQ vs. IQ). Here is a description of the test and book by Daniel Goleman.
