On Saturday, October 20, 2001, students, families, staff, alumnae, and faculty from the Five Colleges joined members of the WITI team to officially launch the WITI Invent Center at Smith College. The Center, located in newly renovated facilities in Tilly Hall, is the first of what WITI hopes will be a network of college and university-based centers designed to advance women's participation in the technological economy. by John Connolly, acting president of Smith College, Carolyn Leighton,
CEO of WITI, and Veronica Boaz, vice president of WITI leadership Xcellence,
was followed by a reception for Smith students and parents who were on
campus attending family weekend. Nancy Hellman, the consulting director
for the new center, answered questions about the services that WITI will
