Four Hands on Deck

Elizabeth Joy Roe and Greg Anderson to perform at Smith Sept. 17

When you watch their hands flying across the keys, it’s hard to tell which belong to whom. Pianists Elizabeth Joy Roe, visiting artist-in-residence at Smith, and her performing partner Greg Anderson have logged so many hours playing piano together as a duo that they perform like one four-handed pianist.

The Anderson & Roe Duo will perform at Smith this Friday, Sept. 17, at 8 p.m. in Sweeney Concert Hall, Sage, in a decidedly eclectic program featuring their four-hand transcriptions of works by Brahms, Schumann and Georges Bizet, but also a rendition of Radiohead’s Paranoid Android and the romping Libertango by Astor Piazzolla, as well as Stravinsky’s The Rite of Spring. Admission is free.

Video footage of Anderson & Roe was excerpted from the duo's most recent album and DVD Reimagine.
