A member of the Discovery and Access team, Janet works with the staff and student assistants at the Josten Performing Arts Library to make their rich and complex collections, spaces, and services available and intelligible to library users. She enjoys de-mystifying music searches and libraries in general. Ask her for help navigating the library and its resources, including: basic reference help, locating items in Josten and offsite storage, in the Five-Colleges, or via interlibrary loan, as well as using their spaces and equipment. See her for problems with access, including missing items, fines, bills, or any other obstacle to use. In 2012, Janet started a performance series on the Josten Mezzanine called Josten Live! Fridays@Five to create a forum for patrons’ creative work in music, theatre, dance, andthe spoken word. Contact her to propose a performance in music, theatre, dance, spoken word, or other performance medium.
A former middle school English teacher and classical d.j., Janet sings in the shapenote tradition, reads non-fiction, and is interested in community connections, eternal verities, political change, sustainability, musics, cognition, individual learning differences, adult development, food, pedestrian travel, swimming, cross-cultural connections, writing, contemporary homiletics, and conversation. She does not garden or knit.
