Smith’s centers for engagement, learning and

leadership include the Lewis Global Studies Cen-

ter, which will enhance your understanding of the

global context for and implications of academic

work. The center also coordinates the college’s

programs abroad.

Smith’s library system rivals those of larger col-

leges, with extensive collections of books, peri-

odicals, digital resources, maps, rare books and

manuscripts.

The Jacobson Center for Writing, Teaching and

Learning provides all students with tutorial ser-

vices and help in writing, mathematics and study

skills. The center can be particularly useful for

those whose first language is not English.

The Spinelli Center for Quantitative Learning

offers tutoring, workshops and class study sessions

for students doing quantitative work across the

curriculum.

free buses connect you to thousands of courses,

academic programs and events.

For Newcomers to the United States

Staff at the Office for International Students and

Scholars can give you information and advice on

personal, academic, immigration and even financial

concerns. They also organize a free, five-day preori-

entation program to welcome international students

arriving at Smith. The International Students Orga-

nization is an active cultural group that holds weekly

meetings for friendship and support.
