Describe your major for someone who has never heard of your field before.
Let’s discuss the importance of Things.

Did you ever have trouble deciding on a major? What, ultimately, helped you decide?
I was originally going to study computer science and studio art. I took an art history course and was immediately fascinated with how we look at objects, history and societal values through objects. The stories told within objects is what drew me in and I love studying these topics and learning new histories every day.

Could you explain a concentration and how it fits in with your major?
Concentrations allow students to be able to explore new fields and try some new classes and different work experiences. Mine complements my major really well, as I want to work in a museum. It became an opportunity to learn not only about the museum fields, but also allowed me to be involved with other fields such as publishing, archives, and libraries.

Why did you choose a museum concentration?
I was really interested in exploring and being able to focus on the museum world. Being able to have a specific study and place to discuss it was important to me in deciding to be a part of the museum concentration.

What makes you laugh the most?
My friends <3

The stories told within objects is what drew me in—and I love studying these topics and learning new histories every day.

What spot on campus will you miss the most? What was your favorite spot?
I think I’m going to miss my house living room the most. I have a lot of really amazing memories of house movie nights, study sessions and being around kind people.

What's your dream career and how has your major and concentration been preparing you for it?
I am aiming to work in the museum field! The museum concentration has really helped me be exposed to so many different parts of the museum world. It has given me the space and opportunity to get real life experience and also have time to reflect and really analyze what is going on in the field.

Is there a tradition from the houses that you think was a particularly fun one?
Sib week is one of my favorite traditions! It is such a fun time getting to meet new students and have fun plotting with all of your friends in the house to make surprises for the new students.

What do you think has been the most “Smithie” thing you’ve done in life so far?
Getting walk-in tattoos with two of my friends.
