Face Time

Oyeama Okpalor ’10

THE BASICS:

Where are you from?

New York by way of Nigeria.

Did you always know you wanted to come to Smith?

I hadn't heard of Smith until the summer preceding my senior year. I was at a Pride Parade and met a junior who sweet-talked me into applying.

NOW THE FUN STUFF:

Who gets the most face time with you?

Face time, like kissing? I believe in a true democracy and am a very generous person...

When was the last time you wore a dress?

One morning during J-term, I put on a black dress to run and get food from Chase.

What are you reading now?

Some lesbian erotica, Pedagogy of the Oppressed and Face of Poetry.

Do you eat fast food?

I do; I have a love-hate relationship with it.

What do you miss most about home?

The sassiness.

What is your favorite movie?

Titanic, Day After Tomorrow, The Color Purple, Bad Boys 2 and Set It Off.

Describe your worst date.

We went to Burger King and I had to laugh after gulping my diet Coke...I was choking and had to get the Coke out—it splashed onto her face.

If you suddenly had two hours of free time, what would you do?

Smoke a cig, drink some coffee at Campus Center, plan out my week, watch a movie.

What is your favorite wall hanging in your room?

A naked picture of a woman peeing in a urinal...HOTT!

Do you consider yourself an urban, suburban or rural person?

All of the above, differs by season.

What annoys the heck out of you?

People who do not shut up!

Who are your role models?

Assata Shakur, Sojourner Truth, and Angela Davis.

What single piece of advice would you give to President Christ?

Do not talk around the issue, do not talk at me and do not appease me; respect and listen to me.
