Face Time

Whitney Dorer ’07

THE BASICS:

Where are you from?

Bedford, Mass.

Did you always know you wanted to come to Smith?

No, after visiting I was hooked.

NOW THE FUN STUFF:

Who gets the most face time with you?

Right now, the group of Smith students I am working with in San Pedro, Belize. We are running a cool Coral Reef Ed-ventures camp for children on the island of Ambergris Caye for the summer. During the school year, my best friends from Emerson House get the most face time with me.

When was the last time you wore a dress?

I wore a breezy beach wrap yesterday. Does that count as a dress?

What are you reading now?

I'm reading Reefscape by Rosaleen Love and The Wedding by Julie Garwood. I have to say it is my first romance novel, but it might become an addiction.

Do you eat fast food?

Only the occasionally batch of French fries. I generally try to avoid even going into fast food places.

What do you miss most about home?

My trampoline.

What is your favorite movie?

My favorite movie is Scarface.

If you suddenly had two hours of free time, what would you do?

Swim, swim, swim.

What is your favorite wall hanging in your room?

I have a 3- by 4-foot enlarged image of my favorite stuffed animal, a sock monkey given to me by my big sibling from first year in Emerson.

Do you consider yourself an urban, suburban or rural person?

I love being able to quickly get somewhere that I can explore the outdoors and spend time in nature. I would say suburban to rural.

What annoys the heck out of you?

When I see people throwing away bottles and paper that could easily be recycled. I feel that our society is becoming lazier and lazier with the passing time.

Who are your role models?

Madonna. I love her style. I would wear a leotard and heels any day.

What single piece of advice would you give to President Christ?

I think she should really have more open events for students to come and chat at her house. I think she really needs to hear more of the popular opinions that Smith students have as opposed to a sometimes-limited group of individuals.
