Face Time

Raquel Manzanares ’08

THE BASICS:

Where are you from?

New Mexico.

Did you always know you wanted to come to Smith?

No. After I visited I knew this was the place for me (even though I fell asleep in the class I visited when I was a prospective).

NOW THE FUN STUFF:

Who gets the most face time with you?

My stuffed cheetah.

When was the last time you wore a dress?

Last Friday if a skirt counts, and Thanksgiving Day if it doesn't.

What are you reading now?

Sharon Olds' The Dead and the Living, Agnes comics, and a book of Philip Larkin's collected poems my brother gave me for Christmas.

Do you eat fast food?

Only if I'm desperate.

What do you miss most about home?

My sisters.

What is your favorite movie?

The Way We Were.

If you suddenly had two hours of free time, what would you do?

Try to get ahead on my reading for next week.

What is your favorite wall hanging in your room?

All of my Barbra Streisand record covers hanging around the room--though my favorite is the cover of The Barbra Streisand Album.

Do you consider yourself an urban, suburban or rural person?

Rural.

What annoys the heck out of you?

Forwarded chain letters in my inbox, disrespect in any form, and days when I don't get to see the sun.

Who are your role models?

My Mom and both my grandmothers.

What single piece of advice would you give to President Christ?

Be more visible on campus.
