Face Time

Melissa MacDonald ’07

THE BASICS:

Where are you from?

Everett, Mass.

Did you always know you wanted to come to Smith?

No. I knew I wanted to attend a women's college and a teacher of mine recommended Smith College. I originally had my heart set on going to Mount Holyoke, but after visiting Smith and viewing the Clothesline Project for the first time, I knew this was a better fit.

NOW THE FUN STUFF:

Who gets the most face time with you?

My best friends.

When was the last time you wore a dress?

Winter Weekend. It was the first time since elementary school.

What are you reading now?

Trash by Dorothy Allison.

Do you eat fast food?

If it's the only option.

What do you miss most about home?

Urban life with public transportation. Also, my grandmother's cooking.

What is your favorite movie?

Good Will Hunting.

If you suddenly had two hours of free time, what would you do?

I would take a nap.

What is your favorite wall hanging in your room?

I have too many paintings I love to pick only one.

Do you consider yourself an urban, suburban or rural person?

Urban.

What annoys the heck out of you?

Ignorance and apathy.

Who are your role models?

Professor Jennifer Guglielmo. I took her Women in the United States History from 1865 to the Present my first semester and my life was never the same after that. She is amazing.

My mother for being such a survivor.

What single piece of advice would you give to President Christ?

To actually listen to student concerns.
