Tie a Ribbon, Become Part of History

Illustration of Smith College parade float

Between now and June 1, you'll have an opportunity to become part of Northampton history by participating in the creation of the Smith College float for the city's 350th Anniversary parade on Sunday, June 6.

Side panels for the parade float will be in the Campus Center, first floor, along with hundreds of ribbons. Come by any time and tie on as many ribbons as you can.

Then come to the parade, which will begin at 1 p.m. and will follow a route from Northampton High School, along Elm, Main and Bridge streets, to the Three County Fairgrounds.

Smith's float will feature a basketball theme, complete with a scoreboard and baskets, as well as several students passing balls, shooting hoops and handing out basketball tokens to the crowd.

But first, the college needs your help tying ribbons to the float--the more ribbons, the better Smith's float will look.

Stop by the Campus Center today, tie on a few, and become part of history.
