Adriane Herman ’88 Makes Art of Recycling
After visiting a landfill during a particularly tough time in her life, Adriane Herman ’88 developed a curious fascination with the objects people let go of and why. This, coupled with her concern for the environment, prompted her to begin documenting the process of letting go and the cycle of consumption. As a recent visiting artist at Smith, Herman led a "Witnessed Release of Objects" project with students, staff and faculty. (All items were recycled.) Herman is on the faculty of Maine College of Art.
