The broad area of immigration and both social work’s history and contemporary work with immigrants and immigration frame the work of Yoosun Park. Both strands of Park's scholarship, as well as her approach to pedagogy, are informed by poststructuralist theories and methods of inquiry.
She serves on the editorial boards of Social Service Review and Affilia: Journal of Women in Social Work. Her article, "Facilitating injustice: tracing the role of social workers in the World War Two internment of Japanese Americans," in Social Service Review (2008) received honorable mention of the 2010 Society for Social Work and Research Excellence in Research Award from the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR).
