International Experience Grants for Spanish and Portuguese Majors

The department awards international study grants to majors for study, research, service and unpaid internships abroad. These grants provide partial funding up to $400 toward the cost of international experiences.

All department majors are eligible to apply, but those who have received funding must wait two years before applying for a second grant. IEG awards may not be used for costs associated with semester and year study abroad. The grant may not be used in the summer following graduation.

Funding Criteria

International Experience Grants are awarded for study, research, service and unpaid internships abroad. Priority for funding goes to:

Alternative Spring Break

The department will consider funding for a service-learning alternative spring break to a Spanish-speaking country even though the trip is less than 3 weeks. Deadline is Feb 15. Strong faculty recommendations are an important component of a compelling application.

Application Deadlines

Grant decisions are made on a rolling basis before November 24 and March 15. See your major adviser for submission information.
