USING THE SPIRIT MARK

Spirit Mark System

The mark can be used alone, or in in any of these combinations with wordmarks, as part of a system. If you do not see a system that works for your needs, please contact John Eue, senior director of publications and communications, for guidance.

Do not create other combinations of the mark with the wordmarks; use the official symbol and approved designs.

Do not attempt to recreate or manipulate by outlining, shadows, stretching or condensing.

Do not attempt to set the type yourself, change the font, or alter the size, proportions or space between the letters.

Do not redraw, separate or alter the elements in any way.

Do not enclose the symbol or any of the approved designs in a shape.

Use the approved colors.

Colors

The spirit mark color system is designed to work within the Smith College Visual Identity System. For print use, Pantone blue 295 is the official institutional color. When Pantone blue 295 is used for the background color, white or yellow Pantone 130 can be used. If the background color is black, white should be used. For Web use, the equivalent colors are 002855c (blue) and F2A900 (yellow).

Pioneer Wordmarks

A system of wordmarks for combinations of the team name and the name of the college has been created to work in tandem with the spirit mark. This is different from the Smith College wordmark, which should only be used as developed for the college Visual Identity Program.
