Check our Events Calendar for an up-to-date schedule. To learn more about how traditional holidays are celebrated at Smith, look through these articles about previous events, such as Passover, Sukkot, Eid dinner, Christmas Vespers, Hanukkah, or Ash Wednesday. These religious holiday events are generally student-led by Smith religious organizations, which we sponsor.

On Wednesday, noon-2:30 p.m., and on Friday, 1:30-2:30 p.m., members of the BLISS Program meet in the Bodman Lounge. BLISS, which stands for Building Leadership for an Inclusive, Sustainable Smith, is a 13-week leadership development program for students of the globality majority (i.e., students of color), modeled upon the non-governmental organization United to End Racism (UER). Students are trained in radical deep listening, and are encouraged to share their stories in a "brave space." This method offers speakers and listeners alike a simple yet powerful tool to support healing from hurts of systemic, interpersonal, and internalized racism, and reclaim power toward creating a society that works well for all.
The sessions are facilitated by faculty in Psychology, Benita Jackson, and Area Coordinator for Residence Life, Romina Pacheco, and supported by staff members Kavita Bhandari (Jandon Center for Community Engagement), Deborah Keisch (Educational Technology Services), and Jessica Bacal (Director, Wurtele Center for Work & Life). The program is funded by the President's Innovation Challenge Grant. The BLISS Program greatly appreciates the ongoing support of the Center for Religious and Spiritual Life in providing a welcoming space for us to develop the first iteration of this program. Thank you!
