If you are a five-college student taking a Smith course listed below, then you are welcome to attend tutoring and ask the tutors for appointments. The tutors do not support courses at the other four colleges: see the tutors at the host institution for support with those courses.

Calculus and Math Counselor

Se Ho Kwak is a doctoral candidate in economics at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Se has taught economics at UMass Amherst, UMass Boston, and Colby College. His field of study is theoretical economics, in particular how to represent heterodox/radical economic ideas with mathematical language. He has a cat named Carrot.

Data Research and Statistics Counselor

Kenneth Jeong is a current PhD candidate in economics at the University of Massachusetts. Kenneth holds a bachelor's in political science and a master's degree in sociology. Kenneth has familiarity with survey data, survey methodology, and models that are common both inside and outside of economics. He can help with R, Stata, SPSS, & Excel.

  • Annah (she) is a senior SDS major and Econ minor. She has taken MTH 111, 112, 211 and 212 as well as SDS 192, 220, 291, 270 and 293 and CSC 111 and 212. She feels more confident in the Stats classes and Calc 1, though she can take a shot at any other Math classes. She is a slo proficient in Excel, R, and GitHub.
  • Gina (she) is a Math and Econ double major. She has taken MTH 153, 212, 211, 220, 233, 238, and 280. She took the equivalent of 111 and 112 in high school. She is happy to try to help with any of the courses but feels more comfortable with 111 and 112.
  • Julie is a junior majoring in biochemistry. She has taken MTH112 and MTH212. She took the equivalent of MTH 111 before coming to Smith, and is available to help with any of these topics!
  • Kate(they/them) is a senior math and religion double major. They have taken MTH 111, 112, and 211 at another university, and have taken MTH 153, 212, 233, 270, 280, 281, and 370, as well as CSC 111 and SDS 220 at Smith and is happy to help anyone with any of these topics.
  • Keren (she/her) is in the Mathematics Post-Baccalaureate program. She previously worked as a high school math teacher in Daly City, CA and Lawrence, MA and taught Algebra, AP Calculus, and AP Statistics. She can help best with MTH 102, 111, 112, 211, 212, and SDS 220. She is currently taking MTH 238, 281, and 370, and she is happy to try to help with those courses too!
  • Liam is an AC/senior math major. He has taken MTH 111, 112, 153, 211, 212, 233, 238, 255, 270, 280, and 370, and can help with any of these. He can also help with Latex.
  • Nataya (she/her) is in the Mathematics Post-Baccalaureate program. She recently graduated from Juniata College with a Bachelors in Mathematics and Computer Science. During her undergraduate experience, she has taken courses in Calc 1+2 (Single variable calculus), Calc 3 (Multi-variable Calculus), and Advance Calculus (Vector Calculus), Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Real Analysis, Numerical Analysis, Discrete Mathematics, and Linear Algebra. Nataya is mostly confident in her Calculus 1-3, Linear Algebra, and Discrete Mathematics knowledge, but she is always willing to discuss problems in any other area she's had a class in! In addition, she is willing to assist with any Sage, WebWork, or Latex issues.
  • Sarah is a junior mathematical statistics major. He took MTH 111 and 112 in high school, and MTH 153, 211, 212, 246, 264, 270, 280, and 320 at Smith, as well as SDS 192 and 291. She is most comfortable talking calculus or linear algebra, though she'd be happy to take a shot at any of the other classes she's taken.
  • Suany (she/her) is a senior Mathematics and Statistics major and Sociology minor. She has taken Calc I, Calc II and is willing to help anyone with any of these topics! :)
  • Tilila (she/her) is junior majoring in Physics and Math. She has taken MTH112, MTH211, MTH212, MTH233, MTH238 and is available to help with any of these topics.

Quantitative Social Science (Psychology, Sociology & Government)

Help is available for PSY 201, SOC 204, and GOV 203.

This semester, Bailey is the tutor for SOC 204. Bailey is a senior doubling in Sociology and History. She took SOC 204 in Fall 2020, was the course tutor in Fall 2021. Bailey can help with class content, survey creation, survey analysis, and stata programming.
Besides time in lab, Bailey has drop-in hours in the Seelye 212 on Wednesdays 4-5pm.
