Q-Tutors (general quantitative tutors)

Q-Tutors hold open drop-in hours in the Spinelli Center. Depending on which Q-tutor you see, she might be able to help with the quantitative and mathematical parts of economics, engineering, chemistry, physics, statistics, etc.

  • Aakanksha is a senior Math/Stats major. She is familiar with R and python, and can help with the core SDS classes (SDS 192, 220, 291 and MTH 211) as well as further related SDS courses (SDS 235, 293, 320), CS courses (CSC 212), and math courses (MTH 246, 320). Currently she is taking topology and partial differential equations.
  • Analia is a junior Engineering Science major who has taken MTH 111, MTH 112, MTH 212 , PHY 117, PHY 210, CHM 111, BIO 152, and ECO 150. She has also taken engineering core courses such as EGR 100, 110, 220, 270, and 290. 
  • Chujun is a sophomore, math major. She has taken Discrete Math(MTH153),Linear Algebra(MTH211), Combinatorics(MTH212) and Intro Microeconomics(ECO150). She can also help with Python. 
  • Echo is an Engineering Science major who has taken introductory Engineering courses (100, 110), Calculus III, Chemistry (118, 222) and introductory Economics courses (150, 153). She is currently taking Thermodynamics and Organic Chemistry II.
  • Jeny is a sophomore Economics and Data Science major. She has taken Calculus 1 and Calculus 2 as well as most of the core economics courses (ECO 150, 153, 220, 250). She is currently taking Calculus III, ECO 253 and CSC 111. 
  • Lauren is a senior Engineering major who has taken Calculus I, II, and III, PHY 210, MTH 205 and all the core Engineering courses. She is also an Economics minor and has completed ECO 150, 153, and 240. 
  • Lucy is a junior Math major who has taken Calculus II&III, Discrete Math, Linear Algebra, Intro Stats, Experimental Design& Research analysis. She has also taken economics core courses such as Intro Micro/Macro and Intermediate Micro/Macro. 
  • Nancy is a junior chemistry major who has taken MTH111, 112, 153(discrete math), 211(linear algebra). She is also willing to help with chemistry (CHM118,222,223) and computer science (CSC212, 250).
  • Oumayma is a junior double majoring in Economics and Mathematics. She can help with the core Economics classes (ECO 150, 153, 220, 250, 253) and international finance, as well as MTH 111, 112, 153, 211, 212 and 233.
  • Rachel is am a sophomore Mathematics major. I have taken Discrete Math(MTH153), Calc2(MTH112), Intro to Stats(MTH220), Linear Algebra(MTH211), Intro to Micro(ECON 150), Intermediate Micro(ECON 250) and Intro to Computer Science(CSC111). This semester I am taking number theory(MTH238), intro to analysis(MTH 281), probability(MTH 246), Seminar in Higher Education(ECON 351), and intro to macro(ECON 153).
  • Tingshan is a junior math and neuroscience double major, who has taken Discrete Math, Calculus III, Linear Algebra, Number Theory and Graph Theory, as well as Intro to Biology, Genetics, Chemistry I & II and Engineering 100. She is currently taking Intro to Analysis and Partial Differential Equations.

Math TA's

The Math TA's are available Sunday - Thursday evenings 7-9 pm in the Math Forum on the third floor of Burton Hall. The TA's are eager to welcome you and to support your progress in mathematics.
To enter Burton at night, you'll need to enter the Science Center with your one card either at the main entrance of Burton or via the Sabin Reed door across from McConnell with the wheelchair ramp.

TA's can help you with difficulties and questions in the courses: MTH 102, 111, 112.
Help for MTH 153, Discrete Math, is available on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, 7 - 9pm in the Math Forum, from Yijia, Haley, and Katherine.

For help with MTH 211, see Math TAs any night except Monday.

For help with MTH 212, Calculus III, see Math TAs any night except Thursday, the Calculus Counselor Hours, your instructor.

Quantitative Social Science (Psychology, Sociology & Goverment)

Hannah is our Master Tutor available for PSY 201, SOC 204, and GOV 190. Drop-in hours are listed below, but you may contact the tutor through the course Moodle site, and are held in the Spinelli Center, Seelye Hall room 207. Students in these and in other courses using statistical methods (such as PSY 192) are also welcome to contact the Data Research and Statistics Counselor.

Hannah is a senior psychology and education double major who has taken PSY 201 and 202. She can help with R Studio and SPSS and is familiar with the basics in Stata.

  • Aakanksha is a senior Math/Stats major.   • Ji Young is a senior double majoring in Computer Science and Statistical Data Sciences. She is able to assist with R and any questions regarding SDS193, 220, 290, 291, and 293. 
  • Kat is a junior psychology major with a minor in statistics. She has taken SDS 290 (Research Design and Analysis), SDS 291 (Multiple Regression), and SDS 192 (Intro to Data Science). and is proficient with R and Tableau. She can assist with topics from any of these classes as well as introductory statistics.
  • Minji is a senior double majoring in SDS and PSY who has taken introductory statistics, Research Design and Analysis, Multiple Regression, Visual Analytics, Introduction to Data Science. I am familiar with R Studio, and I am proficient with R. I can assist with topics from any of these classes.
  • Subashini is a senior Computer Science and Statistical & Data Sciences major. I'm proficient in R, and haven taken Intro to Stats (MTH 220), Intro to Data Sciences (SDS 192), Multiple Regression (SDS 291), Machine Learning (SDS 293). I can also help with using Tableau for Communicating w/ Data (SDS 136).
