  • Annie is a senior Engineering major/Physics minor and the point-tutor for EGR 290, thermodynamics. Annie can answer questions related to EGR 100 (Guswa), EGR 270, EGR 220, EGR 374 and EGR 375. She can also help with PHY 117, PHY 118, and PHY 210.

Math TAs and Q-Tutors (general quantitative tutors)

Math TAs and Q-Tutors hold appointments through this appointment calendar and are available for some drop-in hours (see below). Depending on which person you see, they might be able to help with the quantitative and mathematical parts of economics, engineering, chemistry, physics, statistics, etc., too.

For help with Discrete Math, MTH 153, look for appointments with Priya, Natalie, or Maria (or email them -- their email addresses are available through your instructor).

For help with Calculus III, MTH 212, get in touch with Marisa, the TA for the course. You can also make an appointment with Arie the Calculus Counselor (see link above).

  • Alice is an Ada Comstock Scholar double majoring in World Literature and Mathematics and prefers their Math pure. They've been tutoring for several years up to Calc II levels, but have also taken Calc III, Intro to Discrete, and Linear Algebra at Smith and can help with those too.  They will be chipping their way through Intro to Analysis and Topics in Number Theory this semester. 
  • Candy is a Junior Engineering and Data Sciences double major. She is willing to help with MTH 111, MTH 112, MTH 220, CHM 111, PHY 117, and EGR 100, 110. She has also taken EGR 220, 270, 290, and 374 as well as SDS 192, 293, and might be able to help with any of those courses.
  • Echo is a senior Engineering and Chemistry double major. She can help with Calculus (MTH 111, 112, 212), Linear Algebra (211) and Statistics (220, 291). She has also taken PHY210, CSC111, CHM 118, 222, 223, EGR 100, 110, 290, and might be able to help with those courses as well.
  • Hana is a junior math major and Korean minor. I want to be a high school math teacher in the future because I love helping people have fun with math. In my free time I love to play video games, journal, and sleep. I’m more comfortable with linear algebra and calculus, but I’ll gladly help with any course work. Come by and see me whenever I’m working! :-)
  • Jeny is a Senior Economics and Statistical and Data Sciences double major. In addition to MTH 111, 112, and 220, she can also help with all of the core Economics courses (ECO 150, 153, 250, 253) and MTH 211, 212, and 291. She is currently taking MTH 246.
  • Isabel is a senior Economics and French Studies double major. She has taken and can help with the core courses of the Economics major (ECO 150, 153, 220, 250, 253), as well as the ECO 226 (Economics of European Integration) elective. She is currently taking ECO 240. She has taken MTH 112, 212, 211, 280 and 281. She can help with general calculus questions.
  • Karina is a senior Mathematics major. She has taken Calc I, II in high school and Calc III at Smith. She has also taken Discrete Math (MTH 153), Linear Algebra (MTH 211), Intro to Statistics and Probability (MTH 220), Intro to Modern Algebra (MTH 233), Topics in Number Theory (MTH 238), Probability (MTH 246), Real Analysis at Mount Holyoke, Topics in Topology (MTH 370), Logic (LOG 100), and Set Theory (LOG 222).
  • Maria is a senior math and music major. She has taken a lot of math classes at Smith, but she is most comfortable with calc and discrete. Feel free to ask her about anything!
  • Natalie is a Junior Math major. At Smith, I have taken Calc II, Discrete Math, and Modeling in the Sciences. I have taken Calc, Calc III, and Linear Algebra outside of Smith.
  • Priya is a junior math major who has taken MTH 153, MTH 211, MTH 212, MTH 220, MTH 264, and MTH 280 at Smith. She took MTH 111 and MTH 112 prior to entering Smith but can help with material from those classes as well.
  • Rose is a sophomore Engineering major, Spanish minor, here to help with MTH 111, 112, 212, and EGR 100, 110, and 290. She has also taken EGR 270, CSC 111, CHM 111, PHY117 and PHY 210.
  • Sarah is a senior math and sociology double major. She has taken Calculus I-III, Discrete Math (MTH153), Linear Algebra (MTH 211), Multiple Regression (MTH 291), Probability (MTH 246), Research Design and Analysis(MTH290), and Mathematical Statistics(MTH320).   • Audrey is a junior Data Science major and Public Policy minor. She has taken Intro to Data Science, Intro Stats, Research Design & Analysis, Multiple Regression, and Machine Learning (in R). She can help with data wrangling, cleaning, visualization, reproducibility, and version control (with GitHub) as well as any intro statistics questions. She also has experience in writing R packages.
  • Crystal is Math and SDS double major. She can assist with any topic mentioned, Bayesian statistics, and R.

  • Emma is a senior SDS major. She has taken Intro to Data Science, Data Journalism, Multiple Regression, Structural Equation Modeling, Machine Learning, Advanced Programming, and Research Seminar in Intergroup Relationships. She can also help with intro statistics classes and R. She has additional experience with Excel, data wrangling, creating maps in R, building shiny apps, and basic knowledge of Python, SQL, and Tableau.  
  • Hannah is is a junior double majoring in SDS and Biochemistry. She has taken Intro Data Science, Intro Statistics, Multiple Regression, and Bioinformatics. She can assist with any of the content in these classes as well as general Python and SQL. Additionally, she can help with statistical applications to biological experiments and programming for biological assays.
  • Irene is a senior majoring in SDS. She is proficient in R and can assist with topics in intro statistics, multiple regression, communicating with data, and intro data science.
  • Jemimah is a senior majoring in Computer Science and minoring in SDS. She has taken SDS 192, 109, 220 and 291. She can help with questions relating to those courses, R, Rstudio, Python and general SQL.
  • Jordan is a senior majoring in Statistical and Data Sciences who has taken SDS 192, 220, 290, and 291. I can help with any questions from these classes and I am familiar with R and R Studio as well.
