Q-tutors hold open drop-in hours in the Spinelli Center. Depending on which Q-tutor you see, she might be able to help with the quantitative and mathematical parts of economics, engineering, chemistry, physics, statistics, etc.

  • Aakanksha is a junior Math/Stats major. She is proficient in R, and she has taken Intro to Stats (MTH 220), Intro to Data Sciences (SDS 192), Multiple Regression (MTH/SDS 291), and Machine Learning (SDS 293). This semester she is taking mostly non-statistical math, and enjoys linear algebra and discrete mathematics. 
  • Analia is a junior Engineering Science major who has taken MTH 111, MTH 112, MTH 212 , PHY 117, PHY 210, CHM 111, BIO 152, and ECO 150. She has also taken engineering core courses such as EGR 100, 110, 220, 270, and 290. 
  • Andrea is a sophomore education major and math minor. She can help with Calculus I, Calculus II, Discrete Mathematics and Linear Algebra.
  • Angelica is a Math Post Bac student who has taken Calculus 1, Calculus 2,  Calculus 3, among other advanced courses like Linear Algebra. Currently she is taking Differential Equations, Stochastic Processes and Complex Analysis.
  • Angie is a senior Math and Economics major. She has taken the core economics sequence (ECO 150, 153, 220, 250, 253), Calculus I, II, and III, Linear Algebra, Econometrics (ECO 240), and Modeling in the sciences (MTH 205). She can also help with R, Stata, and Python.
  • Carolyn is a Math Post-Bac student who has taken Calculus 1, Calculus 2, Calculus 3, and Linear Algebra. She is currently taking Probability, Number Theory, and Intro to Analysis.
  • Cecilia is a Bio/Math double major and an Ada Comstock Scholar.  She has taken MTH 153, MTH 211, CHM 111, CHM 222, BIO 132 at Smith and is rusty on Physics I, Calc I-III, and a lot of biology from previous college adventures.
  • Cleo is a Math Post Bac student who has taken Calculus 1, Calculus 2,  Calculus 3, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations and Complex Analysis. She is currently taking Modern Algebra, Topology, and Advanced Calculus.
  • Jinyi is a junior, Biochemistry major. She has taken multiple chemistry (two year sequence) and biology courses (150, 152, 202), as well as introductory courses in economics (153), math (111, 153), and physics (117).
  • Megan is a math and chemistry double major who can help with both chemistry (CHM 118 and 223) and with calculus (MTH 111 and 112).
  • Tingshan is a sophomore math and neuroscience double major, who has taken Discrete Math, Calculus III, Number Theory and Graph Theory, as well as Intro to Biology, Chemistry I and Engineering 100. She is currently taking Linear Algebra, Genetics and Chemistry II.

Math TA's

The Math TA's are available Sunday - Thursday evenings 7-9 pm in the Math Forum on the third floor of Burton Hall. The TA's are eager to welcome you and to support your progress in mathematics.
To enter Burton at night, you'll need to enter the Science Center with your one card either at the main entrance of Burton or via the Sabin Reed door across from McConnell with the wheelchair ramp.

TA's can help you with difficulties and questions in the courses: MTH 102, 111, 112, 153, or 211.
A particular TA, Claudia, for MTH 153, Discrete Math, is available on Sunday and Tuesday nights, 7-9pm, in the Math Forum.

For help with Math 212, Calculus III, see the Calculus Counselor or see your instructor.

  • Alicia is a senior psychology major who has taken introductory statistics, Research Design and Analysis, Multiple Regression, and Machine Learning. She is familiar with R Studio and research design, and she can assist with topics from MTH 220, 290, 291, and SDS 293.
  • Emily is a junior sociology major and applied statistics minor. She has taken Introduction to Probability and Statistics (MTH 220), Multiple Regression (MTH 291), and Quantitative Research Methods (SOC 202), and is proficient with R and Stata.
  • Kat is a sophomore psychology major with a minor in statistics. She has taken SDS 290 (Research Design and Analysis), SDS 291 (Multiple Regression) and is proficient with R. She can assist with topics from any of these classes as well as introductory statistics.
