Health & STEM Professions Lunchbag Series

Smith Prehealth hosts a weekly lunchbag series for students interested in careers in STEM, including the health professions. Students exploring career options are urged to attend presentations on a variety of topics.

Unless otherwise noted, all lunchbags will be from 12:15-1:00pm in McConnell Hall 103.

Health and STEM Professions Lunchbag:

Welcome Back Presentation

Open to all majors.

 

This presentation will review required courses, recommended experiential activities, timelines to prepare, etc. as they pertain to applications for health professions programs. Pizza will be served.

Health and STEM Professions Lunchbag:

Avoiding Unforced Errors in Your Graduate & Professional School Applications, aka “Why Should I Care About the Honor Code?”

Open to all majors.

 

Are you familiar with the Honor Code? Do you know what constitutes cheating? What is the potential impact of an Honor Code violation on your future at Smith and beyond? The focus of this presentation will be on practical aspects of the Honor Code and the Honor Board from a student perspective including consequences of an Honor Code violation, potential sanctions and longer term ramifications. There will be plenty of time for student questions. Pizza will be served.

Presentation by Deborah Davis, MD (Smith ’76).

Open to all majors

 

Dr. Davis is a Professor of Anesthesiology and Pediatrics at Thomas Jefferson University/Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, PA, and is also an Anesthesiologist/Intensivist at the Nemours Cardiac Center at the A.I, duPont Hospital in Wilmington, DE. She will discuss her path to medical school, career trajectory, and her extensive clinical and research experiences in cardiac anesthesiology. Q&A will follow and pizza will be served.

Focus on Medicine with Smith Alumnae.

Open to all majors

 

A virtual panel of Smith alumnae will discuss their paths to medical school, the triumphs and challenges they’ve faced, and what lies ahead for their future practices. Q&A will follow and pizza will be served.
