Originally the South End Community Development and Greater Boston Community Development, the Community Builders reorganized under its current name in 1988. Working since 1964, the group has dedicated itself to creating, revitalizing, and transforming neighborhoods for people of various incomes. Branching out from their main offices in Boston, The Community Builders' recent work includes real estate developing in Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and also Kentucky. Their proposal for redevelopment of the Northampton State Hospital grounds was accepted in 1998, making the Community Builders the master developers.
