Once Again, Smith Donors Stepping Up

News of Note

Published March 8, 2012

With less than a quarter of a year remaining in this year’s effort, the Smith College United Way campaign is again poised to set an example of strong giving in the community.

Though the work is not finished, the college’s United Way campaign, which kicked off last October, is nearing its goal of $150,000. Smith is consistently among the leaders in the Valley in its annual giving to the United Way of Hampshire County (UWHC), accounting for more than 10 percent of its campaign to raise $1.25 million to help people in our community.

Smith contributions are combined with thousands of others in the region to maximize their effect in supporting a network of local agencies committed to helping people in need in Hampshire County.

While most of us can count on the food, safety, shelter and support we need, too many cannot. Every month, more of our neighbors struggle to feed their families, pay for housing, or just get the extra help they need to manage life’s daily expenses.

If you have not yet contributed to the Smith United Way campaign, please consider making a contribution today (see giving details at right). As always, you can have your contribution automatically deducted from your paycheck, so you don’t even notice it.

Members of the Smith United Way campaign team graciously thank those who have generously contributed this year. Their collective donations will help UWHC improve people’s lives in countless ways.

The Smith United Way campaign makes a huge positive impact on people’s lives. Every donation is essential, no matter how much it is.
