Smith Board Approves Faculty Promotions

At its March meeting, the Smith College Board of Trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for eighteen faculty members.

Promoted to full professor from associate professor were Mlada Bukovansky, government; Robert Dorit, biological sciences; Bosiljka Glumac, geosciences; Kyriaki Gounaridou, theater; Andrew Guswa, engineering; Alice Hearst, government; Marc Lendler, government; James Lowenthal, astronomy; Katherine Queeney, chemistry; Susan Voss, engineering; and Maryjane Wraga, psychology.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure from assistant professor were Marnie Anderson, history; Judith Gordon, music; María Helena Rueda, Spanish and Portuguese studies; and Sujane Wu, East Asian languages and literatures. Also, Courtney Lannert was appointed associate professor with tenure in physics, a position that is shared with the University of Massachusetts Amherst.

Promoted to senior lecturer were David Palmer and Beth Powell.
