The project brings to Smith local and international scholars in various forums including work-in-progress seminars, lectures, conferences and workshops.

March 27, 2014, 5:00 PM, Seelye 106, Poet and writer Christian McEwen, "Listening to Poets/Poets Listening". Ms. McEwen has interviewed over 30 poets, including Gwyneth Lewis, Matthew and Michael Dickman, Chase Twichell, Ko Un, Maxine Kumin, Rita Dove, Ella Voigt, and Yusef Komunyakaa. The poets discuss their personal histories, habitual writing practices and their literary influences and development. Ms. McEwen has transcribed and analyzed this information, which she has included in her new book, Sparks from the Anvil, to be published in 2014. Ms. McEwen will lecture on her conclusions based on these interviews. Free and open to the public.
