Smith College Class of 2011, By the Numbers

NORTHAMPTON, Mass. – The following statistics offer a glimpse of the students who make up the Smith College Class of 2011. They graduate during Smith's 133rd commencement ceremony Sunday, May 15, at 10 a.m. in the Quadrangle at the corner of Elm Street and Paradise Road.

1693 Baccalaureate Degree Recipients

680 bachelor of arts degrees

13 bachelor of science degrees

151 undergraduate degree recipients are double-majors

44 states are represented

27 countries are represented

5 most popular majors in descending order: psychology; government; economics; art (includes art history, art studio, architecture and urbanism); English.

43 are Ada Comstock Scholars (women of nontraditional age)

63 years is the age of the oldest graduating Ada.

23 years is the age of the youngest graduating Ada.

74 Advanced Degree Candidates

51 master’s degrees

11 diplomas in American Studies

12 certificiates of graduate study

4,128 first-year applications, the largest number in Smith’s history

1,877 applicants were admitted
