Faculty Members Approved for Tenure and Promotion

At its meeting in February, the Smith College Board of Trustees approved tenure and promotion recommendations for 23 faculty members, effective July 1.

Promoted to full professor were Marnie Anderson, history; Kimberly Kono, East Asian languages and literatures; Daphne Lamothe, Africana studies; Frazer Ward, art; and Sujane Wu, East Asian languages and literatures.

Promoted to associate professor with tenure were Ben Baumer, statistical and data sciences; Nathan Derr, biological sciences; Jennifer Malkowski, film and media studies; Steven Moga, landscape studies; Sarah Moore, engineering; Christen Mucher, American studies; and Benjamin Capistrant, School for Social Work.

Promoted to senior lecturer were Yalin Chen, East Asian languages and literatures; Christiane Métral, French studies; and Joyce Palmer-Fortune, physics.

Promoted to senior laboratory instructor were Maria Bickar, chemistry; Gaby Immerman, biological sciences; Mohini Kulp, chemistry; Lori Saunders, biological sciences; Margaret Glynn Lysaght Thacher, astronomy; Rebecca Thomas, chemistry; Chris Vriezen, biological sciences; and Joseph Yeager, chemistry.

President Kathleen McCartney congratulated the faculty members on their “well deserved promotions.”
