The Campus Center Café will close for about a month this summer while the exhaust system is upgraded to be, among other things, more energy efficient.

During the temporary closure, the café operation will relocate next door to Chapin House dining room and maintain its regular summer schedule, 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Campus Center Café will close Monday, May 23, and the temporary Chapin café will open Wednesday, June 1. The construction work is expected to be completed around June 24.

When facing the front of Chapin House, the entrance to the café will be located on the right side of the building, the place from which students pick up “grab and go” lunches.

Cash, OneCards and “campus cash” will all be accepted forms of payment; bank credit and debit cards will not be used.

Like the Campus Center Café, the Chapin café will be air-conditioned.

Both breakfast and lunch will be served for patrons. Hot lunch offerings will include panini, pizza and two types of soup daily. A variety of prepared salads and sandwiches, and selection of yogurt and hummus will be offered. And, the beverage selection will include coffee and tea—both iced and hot—as well as the standard bottled beverage options.

All of the containers used in the café operations are compostable.
