“We have to be comfortable having uncomfortable conversations,” says Whitney Mutalemwa ’20.

“This day is a catalyst for the community we want to build,” adds Kimraj Jordan ’20J.

“One day is not going to solve our problems,” says English professor Floyd Cheung. “But we are going to take this day to intentionally listen to each other.”

They’re talking about April 10’s day of learning, an event designed to help create transformative change in the Smith community.

Smith students, faculty and staff can now see the full schedule online. Advance registration is strongly encouraged. (Events are not open to the general public.)

A campuswide lunch, featuring more than a dozen local vendors, will be held on Chapin and Seelye lawns from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The idea for this day came from the community,’’ says Amy Hunter, institutional equity officer and Title IX coordinator. “This day won’t be successful without all of us.”
