ITT Flags Update
Since 1995, Smith has displayed international flags in the Indoor Track and Tennis Facility (ITT) linked to the home countries of Smith students. In 2006-07, the flags were updated to represent the current classes and mounted on acoustic panels around the ITT. They have not been updated since.
Over the past five years, the acoustic panels have sustained damage and will need to be repaired. As part of that project, the Office of College Relations investigated the current display and found that the flags are hung in a way that often causes them to be blocked from view. The flags also no longer accurately represent the makeup of the current student body.
Later this month, the flags will be removed from the ITT to allow repair and repainting of the walls and acoustic panels. The flags will be stored by Facilities Management.
Smith is proud of the international diversity of its students and alumnae, and is actively seeking a way to better display and celebrate the nations represented by our students.
Please contact Sam Masinter, Director of College Relations, at firstname.lastname@example.org with any suggestions or questions. As the project progresses, we will update the campus community through the e-Digest.
