Psych Professor Receives Award for Mentorship

Maryjane Wraga, associate professor of psychology at Smith, recently
received the 2006 Women in Cognitive Science Mentorship Award. The award
recognizes individuals who have demonstrated sustained, effective mentorship
of female students and who have also served as a research adviser or
supervisor to one or more female students during the academic year
immediately preceding the nomination.

"You have gone far above and beyond these criteria in developing the research careers of younger female colleagues for many years," said Kathryn T. Spoehr, chair of the award committee, when she notified Wraga.

Wraga was nominated by Smith alumna Emily Jacobs ’04 and honored during the Women in Cognitive Science meeting on Nov. 16 in Houston.

She and two other award recipients will each receive $2,000 toward their research.
