Locations & Study Spaces
Smith College Libraries collections and services are distributed across the campus in four locations: Young Library, Hillyer Art Library, Josten Performing Arts Library, and the KnowledgeLab in Seelye B4. Each library offers a variety of study spaces and staff to assist users with their research and help them access collections at Smith and beyond.
The Libraries provide a range of study spaces for individuals and groups ranging from quiet to noise-tolerant which are furnished with a variety of seating and technology options including individual carrels, reservable study rooms, traditional library reading tables, easy chairs and sofas, as well as collaborative group-work set-ups with movable furniture, whiteboards, screen sharing software, and media equipment.
SmithScape is an app designed to help students at Smith find places to study across campus that meet specific criteria, such as lighting, ambient noise, and availability of amenities such as printers, whiteboards, outlets, vending machines, etc.
It is currently available as a web application, as well as an app for smartphones via the App Store and Google Play Store (coming soon).
