All students in SSW 160/161, Introduction to U.S. Social Welfare Policy, must attend one of the seven research sessions offered. We will introduce key resources for your major class assignment.
All students enrolled in Research Methods (380/382/384) are required to attend a library advanced research session. These small group sessions provide a hands-on opportunity to explore the databases you'll use for research.
We are pleased to announce the launch of Five College Compass: Digital Collections a site bringing together digital scholarship with cultural and historical materials contributed by Hampshire, Mount Holyoke, and Smith Colleges.
The site is a collaborative implementation of the Islandora/Fedora open source framework and represents an ongoing commitment between the institutions to showcase and preserve our unique digital materials. With over three thousand individual items currently available and thousands more to be added, Compass will grow, providing access to the depth and breadth of digital output from our archives, special collections, and digital scholarship.

Saturday, May 20 and May 27: Meet curators and archivists and see some of Smith's fabulous rare books and world-renowned women's history collections. See the model of the New Neilson Library, Neilson Library, level 1 core.
Neilson Library and Alumnae Gym are closing in order to make way for the construction of the New Neilson Library (2017-2020).
Young Library opens as the central campus location for the Libraries on June 1, 2017. Hillyer and Josten Libraries will continue to provide services throughout.
Smith Reads is a first-year reading experience for all students new to Smith College. This includes first-year students, Ada Comstock Scholars and transfer students. Entering students will meet in small groups to discuss the book.
The Friends of the Libraries honor these seniors by placing a special bookplate into the library book of their choice. See the list of graduates and the books-some old, some new-that they have chosen to be plated.
