As the project manager for the Special Collections move, Mary has been working to manage the secure migration of roughly 40,000 archival boxes and rare books from five different archive spaces into four temporary locations. Her daily activities include coordinating with the Neilson Library move team, developing sequences, schedules and timetables, assisting in prepping the collections for the move, assisting the staff with packing, and serving as the primary liaison with the professional movers.

Mary is a native of Western Massachusetts, and returned to the area after college and living abroad in Japan for two years and in New York City for 15. While in Japan, she had the unusual opportunity of playing trumpet with the Hachioji Philharmonic Orchestra during the funeral procession for Emperor Hirohito in 1989. Mary and her husband, Scott, have two children who share their love of music, reading, badminton, ping pong and everything to do with the outdoors. Based in Northampton since 2005, Mary and Scott live in a deep-energy-retrofit home and happily commute to Smith by bike in all kinds of weather.
