City Year
At City Year, we believe education has the power to help every child reach his or her potential. However, in high-poverty communities there are external factors and obstacles students are faced with every day that can interfere with their ability to both get to school and be ready and able to learn. City Year works to bridge the gap in high-poverty communities between the support that students actually need and what their schools are designed and resourced to provide. In doing so, we’re helping to increase graduation rates across the country and changing lives of the students we serve. At City Year’s 27 locations across the United States and two international affiliates, highly trained young adults, our AmeriCorps Members, work full-time in schools for 11 months providing individualized supports to at-risk students. We partner with schools and districts to identify students who are at risk of not graduating on time with their peers, and provide them with extra academic, emotional and social support a skills that they need to be successful for college and a career.

The Massachusetts Life Sciences Center’s Internship Challenge is a workforce development program focused on enhancing the talent pipeline for Massachusetts companies engaged in life sciences. The program facilitates the placement of students and recent graduates who are considering career opportunities in the life sciences in paid internships across the state. Consistent with the MLSC’s role as a catalyst in growing the talent needed by the life sciences industry, the program is designed to create hundreds of new internship opportunities each year by enabling small businesses to hire paid interns. Objectives of the Internship Challenge include expanding the pool of prospective employees who have practical experience, enhancing opportunities for mentoring, enabling more students to explore career opportunities despite the challenging economic environment, and providing to students interested in working in the life sciences a peer network through educational and informational networking events.

Western New England University College of Pharmacy
WNE College of Pharmacy offers a full-time, four-year program for the Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree. The College of Pharmacy also offers two dual-degree programs in collaboration with the University's College of Business: 1.) PharmD/MBA; and 2.) PharmD/MSOL. Dual degree programs are designed to allow students to complete both degrees in the same four-year period, saving both time and money. WNE College of Pharmacy enrolls approximately 75 students each year, making it one of the smallest PharmD programs in the U.S., and prides itself on a student-faculty ratio of 9:1. Small class sizes allow for exceptional advising and mentoring throughout the program, which lead to low attrition, and high percentage of students with jobs upon graduation. In addition to small class sizes, students enjoy the student-centered environment, progressive curriculum, and inter-professional learning opportunities.

Westfield State University, Physician Assistant Studies
Westfield State University is proud to announce that it will soon be accepting applications to its inaugural class for the Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies. The university anticipates this first cohort to begin in January 2018 (pending successful accreditation). Westfield State University also offers a variety of graduate degree options, including the Master of Arts in Counseling, and Master of Education programs in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, and Middle and High School Biology.
