The Jade Vine Blooms!

Jade vine flowers

Strongylodon macrobotrys, common name; Jade Vine, is known for its striking cascades of blue-green flowers.  Native to the rainforests of the Phillipines, it is a member of the Leguminosae, (pea and bean), family. This woody vine is pollinated by bats who sample the flowers' nectar by hanging upside-down. In the process, pollen is deposited on the bat's head and transferred to the next flower it visits.

This pant lives in the Palm House.
