Music in the Noon Hour

This concert will feature musical tributes to some of the champion-sized trees as well as other remarkable and historic tree specimens that grace the Smith College Campus Arboretum — now recognized as an accredited arboretum and as a Tree Campus USA.

Arbor Day Lecture by Richard Higgins

Trees were central to Henry David Thoreau’s creativity as a writer, his work as a naturalist, his thought, and his inner life. When he wrote that the poet loves the pine tree as his own “shadow in the air,” he was speaking about himself.
