Academic Advisers

Upon entering Smith, every student who has indicated a potential interest in engineering is assigned an engineering faculty member as a liberal arts adviser. Advisers for all engineering students are members of the engineering faculty.

Change Adviser

When a student decides to major in engineering, she needs to submit two forms:

  1. The declaration of the major (click on "Declare my major or minor or certificate or concentration") is submitted to the Class Deans Office
  2. The departmental advising form, located on our Forms page is submitted to the engineering administrative office in order to assign the student an adviser

Advising Expectations

Each student is expected to meet with her adviser at least once a semester to discuss her academic interests and seek help in planning her courses and registering for classes.
