AMAZONIAN ORCHIDS

Take a small piece of dawn light
and twist at the top to shape it
like a small walking stick.
With glue attach
a ball of dough
prepared beforehand.
Use this to shape the pistil.

Using move dough
add a light green color.
Then shape a receptacle
to be used as the base of the orchid.

When the petals have been cut out
flatten with the fingers,
gluing them around the pistil.
Paint with light colors
-- white, rose, sky blue, violet --
adding as decoration a few dots and dark edges.

The flowers and dark dwellers of the river
should always be set standing
either against a slice of heaven
or mass of green dough.

You can make the flowers any size
you wish just by varying
the size of the pastry cutter.

The normal shape of these flowers
is three sepals and three petals
not counting the first petal
which fell in 1542
when Francisco de Orellana and his army
burst into my river.
