Emma will play a key role in man- aging the museum’s collections and exhibitions in art from the late 20th century to the present, working closely with faculty and students to foster significant, sustained engagement with this dynamic field. “I’m delighted by this opportunity to consolidate my interests in research, exhibition and teaching in support of women’s liberal arts education,” Emma says. “When I first met with students here, it really stood out to me how excited, smart and curious they are. This is a community that’s looking to do more than reflect and refract. The museum is a place where we can bring together artists, students and faculty to do a lot of deep, creative thinking about issues that matter on campus and around the world.” The daughter of a Smith alumna (Charity Imbrie ’76), Emma felt connected to Smith even before setting foot on campus. “It’s a natural fit for me in many ways.” “I love the collaborative nature of curatorial work, and am excited to join the museum at a time of change and expansion,” Emma says. “Building collections for future generations is a great privilege. We are essentially telling stories…and there’s so much to say and so many voices to hear.”
