Class Visits & Overnights
Important COVID-19 Information
In response to the extraordinary spread of COVID-19, like many other colleges and universities, Smith College has made the difficult decision to close all college buildings to the public and suspend on-campus events. As a result, the Office of Admission has canceled all visit programs, as well as campus tours, information sessions, on-campus interviews and group visits until further notice. For updates on Smith’s response to the COVID-19 outbreak, please visit the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) page.
You are welcome to sit in on a Smith class. View the Smith College Course Catalog to select the subject, size and format (seminar, colloquium or lecture) that you wish to visit.
Class visits are not available during the last week of the fall and spring semesters.
Contact the Professor
We recommend emailing the professor in advance to confirm location and availability.
If you'd like to speak with a faculty member in more depth, you can chat after class or arrange a meeting.
Am I Eligible?
Overnights are available in the fall for high school seniors and transfer students only, and for admitted students in the spring.
When Can I Come?
Overnight visits are available Monday through Thursday evenings, when the college is in session, from late September to mid November, and in late March and April (for admitted students only). Because we think it's important for you to visit classes, the admission staff schedules overnight stays only during the week.
What Should I Expect?
Your student host or her friends will keep you company during your campus stay, have dinner and breakfast with you and take you to classes.
Arrange for a Stay
To arrange a hosted overnight stay, please access our Overnight Visits Calendar (not available at this time). You must complete the required Waiver and Permission form when you come to campus. Please be sure to read it carefully.
