For Volunteers
“I am thankful for the CSO because it introduced me to the Northampton community and has supported me in forming meaningful relationships with community members. Whether I am on or off campus, my experience as a student volunteer has strengthened my Smith career in a very special way.”

Transportation
Walking
If you don't drive there are several partnering agencies within walking distance or on a bus route. If you do walk, please be aware of your surroundings.
Bus
If your community service activity is on a bus route, check the PVTA bus schedule.
Private Vehicle
The CSO's transportation policy does not allow students to use their own private vehicle to drive other students or program participants for CSO-sponsored community service projects.
Smith College Vans
The CSO maintains four vehicles to assist students in getting to community service partner organizations, Jandon Center-related initiatives and projects, and religious services.
Using a Smith College Van

If you are a first-time car user, you must first become certified. You will need to register with your driver's license and complete online training presentation and safety quizzes. Information about requirements and the presentations are in the document below.
Transporting Children
If you will be transporting children under 18, you must have this form signed by the parent or guardian before each trip. All passenger forms must be filled out each time the van is used.
