Biography

Originally from Germany, Sandra Digruber holds a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in English, French and educational studies from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), Germany, and a master’s degree in German studies from Florida State University (FSU). In 2019, she graduated with a doctorate in German with a specialization in second language studies from Georgetown University, where she also taught German foreign language classes at the undergraduate level. Her research focuses on the analysis of classroom discourse and systemic functional linguistics as an analytical framework. She is also interested in pedagogical practices and curriculum design. At Smith, Digruber teaches German language courses at the introductory and intermediate level as well as a 300-level topics course.
