Before coming to Smith, Tamar Friedmann held postdoctoral positions at MIT and the University of Rochester.
Her research lies at the intersection of algebraic combinatorics, Lie theory and particle physics. Her projects include such topics as generalizations of Lie algebras inspired by string theory, and classification of hadrons using representation theory.
She also holds a certificate in violin performance from the Juilliard School and enjoys playing the violin and running 5K races.
