Nessy Tania earned a doctorate in mathematics from the University of Utah. Prior to joining Smith College, she was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Her research work is motivated by different biological problems. Some of her current projects include studying biochemical regulation of cell motility in cancer cells, modeling stem cell divisions during developments and analyzing patterns emerging from social interactions during animal foraging. In her research, she combines applied mathematics methods, such as dynamical systems, stochastic processes and numerical simulations.
