Michelle Kassmann explores the concept of personal identity through interdisciplinary dancemaking. She integrates improvisation, theater, music, and amalgamates ballet, jazz, West African and flamenco vocabularies to create narrative journeys. She collaborates with actors, composers, dancers and visual artists. Her work has been presented at the University of New Mexico, Tricklock Company and several St. Louis venues. She performed as a member of Afriky Lolo, as an independent artist in St. Louis and with the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts in New Mexico and Mongolia.
Kassmann earned a bachelor's in dance, summa cum laude with departmental honors, from the University of New Mexico. She also completed the Conservatory of Flamenco Arts program and holds a bachelor's in English literature and psychology with a history minor from Saint Louis University. She currently is working toward Action Theater and Open Source Forms certifications.
