Biography

Gaby Immerman has been turning Smith students on to the joy of plants since 2000. She holds a joint appointment as biology faculty and as the experiential learning specialist at the Botanic Garden of Smith College. In this capacity she oversees the botanic garden's summer internship and supports an array of other opportunities for students to connect to plants. Beyond teaching, Gaby is actively engaged with numerous regional land and food justice projects, including Grow Food Northampton, the Mill River Greenway, and Hilltown Land Trust, all of which can provide students with rich co-curricular learning experiences. Gaby earned a bachelor’s degree from Sarah Lawrence College, and a certificate in horticulture from the Brooklyn Botanic Garden. She is currently completing a master's degree in sustainability science at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
