Benjamin Capistrant, as a population health scientist, uses a range of empirical approaches to understand social determinants of health, including mixed-methods research, randomized interventions to address health disparities and causal inference methods applied to large, national/multinational health surveys. Prior to coming to Smith, he was an asistant professor of epidemiology and community health at University of Minnesota and a postdoctoral scholar at Carolina Population Center at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He received his graduate degrees in social epidemiology and public health at Harvard University.
