Alex Chambers is the author of Binding: A Preparation, a book of poems. He writes and produces Age of Humans, a podcast about life in the Anthropocene, and is developing How to Survive the Future, a podcast about today from the perspective of tomorrow, with support from Indiana Humanities. His poems and essays have appeared in Gulf Coast, The Laurel Review,Puerto del Sol and elsewhere, and have won awards from the Associated Writing Programs and the Academy of American Poets. He was a 2017 Bread Loaf Orion Katharine Bakeless Nason Scholar and a 2019 We Own It Organizing Fellow. He has a doctorate in American studies from Indiana University, where he wrote a dissertation on Climate Violence and the Poetics of Refuge. In addition to his teaching at Smith, he teaches audio storytelling at Indiana University and through independent workshops.
