Study Abroad

Many art majors choose to study in other countries, which we encourage. Art history majors have recently studied in Paris, Berlin, Prague and Sydney. Studio students often work for a semester or year in London or Glasgow. Architecture students can be found all over the world, in Denmark and Senegal, in New Zealand and Spain. Smith has its own programs in Europe and allies with many other schools who have programs elsewhere. Information on study abroad can be found at the Office for International Study.

Student Spotlight

"Paris is the city of treasure hunts, and the Parisian university I.D. is the magic key granting free access to public museums. On a weekday afternoon, I had unlimited options: stroll in the Louvre, discover a small museum, visit an exhibition or sit in on a lecture at the National Institute of Art History ..."Hui Yan '17, Art History and Philosophy

"Studying in Glasgow allowed me to focus on developing my art with support and collaboration from an incredibly welcoming community of other student artists."—Ceilia Calder '17, Studio Art

"My time in Copenhagen allowed me to see a multitude of traditional and modern architecture, from the Christiansborg Palace to Bjarke Ingels' 8 House. The diversity of architecture inspired me to push the boundaries of design and sustainability in my own work."Zoe Mitrisin '17, Architecture
