Changing Your Name
Students are able to change their own names in Moodle. To do this, the student should log in to Moodle and click their name at the top of the screen. Click on Profile in the menu that pops up. This will take them to their user profile. Click the “Edit profile” in the User Details box at the top. This will take them to a page where they can change their name. make changes and scroll to the bottom of the page. Click the “Update profile” button at the bottom of the page to ensure that the changes take effect.
Smith Network Username and Email Address
Students, faculty and staff who wish to change their Smith network account and username may write the IT Service Center at firstname.lastname@example.org for assistance.
You can change your email display name using Google+. This overrides the address book name that comes from Banner. Go to the gmail web interface, and click on the “apps” button—the array of dots in the upper right. Click on Google+. Click on Profile (on the left). Click on your currently listed name. Click on the pencil icon next to your name, and make your changes. It will take a little while to percolate out to the address book—don't be alarmed by that.
Students, faculty and staff may update the name on their OneCard. Instructions are available on the ITS website.
Students are able to add a preferred name to their Banner information. Please go to the Registrar’s Office to request this change. This will update your online directory entry and will allow you to get a OneCard with your updated name information.
Faculty and staff are able to add a preferred first name to their record in Workday. Instructions are available through the Workday job aid. This will update your online directory entry and will allow you to get a OneCard with your updated name information.
